Lynne Ramsay’s “You were never really here” seems like a typical action sequence within a very unique suspense setting. It’s a simple enough story of a brutal contract killer, hired by a powerful senator to rescue his daughter without making much noise about it. But the trailer promises that you are in for much more. It doesn’t give away any detail but just leaves you with a skin prickling feeling. I really do wonder if the movie would keep chasing this eerie feel or actually break out to give something new in an overused genre, though just as heart racing and nail biting.
It appears to be a movie where you go in not assuming much, but when you walk out, you are either in a daze or complete unimpressed, there seems no in-between.
