Just when you thought that the hype around the live-action version of The Lion King can’t get any bigger, Disney released a new series of images in which the cast of the upcoming blockbuster are put face-to-face with the character that they help give life.
The original Lion King was animated and released in 1994. The new version, however, is not exactly a live-action flick as there isn’t a single living person in the film. But, the movie’s CGI team has done a striking job in making the talking animals look as real as they ever have on screen.
Directed by Jon Favreau, the new movie will have Donald Glover voicing the grown-up version of Simba, the main character of The Lion King. Other characters are voiced by Seth Rogen, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Alfre Woodard, Billy Eichner, John Kani, John Oliver, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, and James Earl Jones reprising his original role as Mufasa.
Set to release in theatres on July 19, the movie is hyping up to be another victory lap for Disney. The original Lion King became one of the highest grossing movies of all-time when it was released. The studio is looking to repeat the same all over again.
