Based on the original movie by Harry Hurwitz, The Comeback Trail features the story of Max Barber, a struggling Hollywood producer played by Robert De Niro. He owes a lot of money to Morgan Freeman’s mob boss Reggie Fontaine. In order to overcome the debt, he decided to set up a dummy film production, get the lead actor insured for a large amount of money, kill the actor in an accident, and collect the insurance amount.
