6 Most Iconic Bond Lines Of All Time

by Kaylen Summers

Whenever the name James Bond is mentioned, the first things that come into our minds are the guns, gadgets and espionage thrills. But there is more to bond than just that. The international man of mystery is known for his wit, playfulness and sexual innuendos. These have given rise to some of the most iconic Bond lines ever.

Without further ado, let’s take a look at the 10 most iconic Bond lines of all time. If you haven’t seen these movies, do check out them too, as they are sure to entertain you.

“I Think He Got The Point”

ITHINKHEGOTTHEPOINT

Not all bond moments are hardcore serious. There were plenty of scenes in old Bond movies that were downright funny. The 1965 film Thunderball featuring Sean Connery has this gem that is laughably bad, yet simply hilarious. The scene has 007 sitting on a beach with Domino (Claudine Auger). Domino suddenly notices Largo’s henchmen quietly sneaking behind them. Bond immediately shoots the bad guy with a spear gun and says: “I think he got the point.”

“I Always Enjoyed Studying A New Tongue”

IAlwaysEnjoyedStudyingANewTongue

In Tomorrow Never Dies, the super-spy tries to learn from a Danish professor named Inga Bergstrom. However, the two ends up making love, leading to the iconic cheesy dialogue from Bond: “I’ve always enjoyed studying a new tongue.”

“Keeping The British End Up, Sir”

keepingthebritishendup

The Spy Who Loved Me is often considered one of the best Bond movies from Roger Moore. In the movie after defeating Karl Stromberg (Curt Jurgens), Bond and Anya Amasova (Barbara Bach) escapes using a pod.  On the way, the two celebrate their victory by having sex. It is when the superiors ask him what he was doing that Bond makes the funniest reply ever: “Keeping the British end up, sir.”

“I Thought Christmas Only Comes Once A Year”

I Thought Christmas Only Comes Once A Year

Pierce Brosnan had some of the most poorly received bond movies. The 1999’s The World Is Not Enough was not an exception. However, this one-liner is surely something memorable. Denise Richards plays Dr. Christmas Jones, the main Bond girl in the film. Though her character got criticized by many, the name did help make some cringy Bond jokes. One such comes when Christmas and Bond are on the bed together and he cracks the joke:  “I thought Christmas only comes once a year.”

“A Martini. Shaken, Not Stirred”

AMartiniShakenNotStirred

Fans of Bond will never forget his choice of drink- “A Martini. Shaken, Not Stirred”. The line first appeared in Ian Flemming’s book and later made its way into the first James Bond movie Dr. No.  Ever since then it started appearing constantly in almost all the Bond movies to date.

“Shocking. Positively Shocking.”

shockingsurprisinglyshocking

Though most of Bond’s iconic lines are funny jokes, there is no one who delivers it best than Sean Connery. Take this one for example. The pun from the 1964 film Goldfinger would have not been this much fun if it wasn’t for his brilliant timing. James Bond was making out with a girl. Suddenly he sees the reflection of a henchman in her eye. He quickly starts to fight the thug and shoves him into the tub, where he gets electrocuted by a lamp. Bond makes an exist saying: “Shocking. Positively Shocking”

Why is ‘It Happened One Night’ a Classic Worth Watching?

by Kaylen Summers

It was on Feb. 22, 1934, Frank Capra’s classic road trip film It Happened One Night got released into theaters. The movie was an instant hit and won 5 awards at the 7th Academy Awards, which included the best actor for Clark Gable and actress for Claudette Colbert.

Though the iconic movie is running for more than a good two hours, its excellence is that there is not even one dull moment in it. During the post-production, some of it was left on the editing floor, but it is too good throughout that the audiences won’t mind having some extra footage kept in. The main reason for this is that It Happened One Night has a charming, coherent and believable plot. The characters are also lovely and human that you will instantly connect with them and events they go through.

The movie belongs to an offshoot genre of comedy known as screwball comedy. In many ways similar to the romantic comedy, this sub-genre slowly vanished in the 30s itself. However, It Happened One Night still remains as one of the best screwball comedies and also as an iconic cult classic. It has everything from being a comedy with a kick, drama with a punch, and the acting and direction served at a new high.

The lead roles are played by Clark Gable and Claudette Colbert. Gable plays the role of a newspaperman who helps Colbert escape from her father. The two embark on a hitchhike from Miami to New York. And eventually, they fall for each other.

Both Gable and Colbert are seemingly effortless in their acting. It felt as if they were joyfully being utterly natural and devastatingly human throughout the picture. Adding this with the perfect lines did nothing but sparkle. It is as if the makers of the movie made extra sure that not even one single dull line of dialogue was there in the whole thing, and there isn’t a character who is not lively. More than its everlasting charm, this gave the film all its life and personality.

Other characters in the movie include Walter Connolly who looks splendid as Miss Colbert’s father. Roscoe Karns also amuses the audiences as a traveling salesman. Alan Hale’s smaller role is also worthy to be mentioned.
But the icing on the cake was from none other than the director of this classic flick- Frank Capra. Along with Joseph Walker’s cinematography, the two created a marvel on the screen.

Whether you are a fan of comedies or not this one is worth seeing. It’s got superb acting, riotous comedy, big names, and perfect direction. So what are you waiting for?! Go watch the movie and let us know how much you enjoyed the movie, in the comments below.

NEW UPDATE: Here Is What Rami Malek’s James Bond Supervillain Will Be Like.

by Kaylen Summers

It wasn’t long since the makers of James Bond 25 officially announced the title of the movie as ‘No Time To Die’. Other than this and the confirmation that Rami Malek will be playing the villain for the movie, nothing much about the movie has been revealed.

Now, we are getting new details about the supervillain who is all set to give Bond a run for his money. It was producer Barbara Broccoli, who shed some light into the upcoming finale to Daniel Craig’s tenure as 007.

The movie will see Oscar-winner Rami Malek play the villainous character named Safin. Malek got his first Oscar nomination and win for playing Freddie Mercury in the Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody. The actor is currently appearing in Mr. Robot Season 4. According to what has been revealed in the official synopsis, Safin is a “mysterious villain”, who’s armed with dangerous new technology. Talking about the details revealed in a recent preview of 2020 movies, Barbara Broccoli described Safin as follows.

“We’ve thrown the book at him on this one. He is really the supervillain. He’s the one that really gets under Bond’s skin. He’s a nasty piece of work.”

Bond movies are known for their great villains. However, Daniel Craig’s Bond movies so far had a mixed bag when it comes to villains. Considering that the actor gave us one of the greatest Bonds in the movie history, it’s fair to say that Craig certainly deserves a good villain to face off against in his last mission as 007.

Previous Bond villains for Craig include Mads Mikkelsen as Le Chiffre in Casino Royale, Javier Bardem’s Silva in Skyfall and most recently, Christoph Waltz appearing as the iconic Blofeld in Spectre. Yet, these characters somehow failed to bring out the best antagonist for the superspy. Will Malek be able to pull it off, where other great performers have failed?

Meanwhile, there are rumors that Bond 25’s villain would be blind. Though that would be an interesting twist, the possibility of making this work out in a highly action-packed Bond movie will surely be a challenge for the makers (if the rumors are correct).

No Time to Die is slated to hit theaters on April 8, 2020. this means that we could be seeing a trailer for the movie anytime soon.

Jane Fonda Did the Unthinkable on Getting Arrested

by Emily Keen

Hollywood icon Jane Fonda got arrested on Friday for a climate change protest in Washington DC. But in that moment too, she did not let the situation affect her iconic stature. The Oscar winning actress accepted her BAFTA award while the policemen tied the plastic ties around her wrists and walked her to the van.

The actress was bestowed with the prestigious Stanley Kubrick award for excellence in film during the BAFTA annual celebration in LA. She had moved to Washington DC with the intent of contributing to heighten the urgency against global climate change. Which is why she could not be present to accept the award.

The folks at the ceremony were surprised to see a video message of acceptance from Fonda acknowledging the award and also apologizing for not being there in person.

Here is the footage of the courageous actress getting arrested for a bigger cause and waving with her shackled hands thanking BAFTA for the award.

The actress moved to Washington to start a movement called Fire Drill Friday.

In her statement she said:

‘I’m going to take my body, which is kind of famous and popular right now because of the [television] series and I’m going to go to D.C. and I’m going to have a rally every Friday.

‘It’ll be called Fire Drill Friday. And we’re going to engage in civil disobedience and we’re going to get arrested every Friday.’ The actress’ inspiration to join the movement came from the teenage climate activist Greta Thunberg.

She also said Greta had ‘realized what was happening and that this was barreling at us like an engine’. The ties around her hands did not seem to diminish her spirit even for a moment and she gracefully addressed the camera and walked way.

Fonda’s speech received a loud cheer and standing ovation from the activists.

The other actors who won at BAFTA this year include Steeve Coogan and Phoebe Waller Bridge. Coogan was bestowed with the Charlie Chaplin award for excellence in comedy. Bridge received the British Artist of the year.

These LEAKED IMAGES From James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad Looks Awesome

by Kaylen Summers

Even in its preproduction stage, James Gunn was not shy to show off inside-details and images for his upcoming DC film The Suicide Squad. Now, it looks like some leaked images from the movie set have surfaced online. The new images are giving us a pretty good look at how the heroes will be looking like in the upcoming movie. Though Gunn has been teasing us over the past months, this is the first clear look that we are getting at the new heroes (or villains, to be exact).

The leaked images show some members of the massive cast involved film, including Nathan Fillion, Flula Borg, Pete Davidson, Mayling Ng, and Sean Gunn. There is also Jai Courtney’s Captain Boomerang returning from the last installment and Sean Gunn is seen in a CGI suit. Rumors are suggesting that the actor will be playing Weasel, a costumed villain and enemy to DC’s Firestorm.

We still need to figure out who the rest of them are. But unfortunately, according to the director, many of these characters might not end up having a big role in the movie. In fact, according to Gunn, most of them will not even make it out alive by the end of the movie. But we are sure that in Gunn’s hands each of these characters will have unique and memorable.

However, if you are expecting the new installment to a continuation of the Will Smith starer, then you are wrong. Everything about the new Suicide Squad is brand-new and fans are really excited to see Gunn’s take on the characters. Afterall the guy does have a strong track record at Marvel, in making the blockbusters Guardian of the Galaxy and Guardian of the Galaxy. Vol.2. If the director is able to bring some of the emotional aspects from that franchise over to The Suicide Squad, it will surely be a blockbuster as well.

James Gunn is known for his works at Marvel. He landed on the DC project after being fired from Disney last year. Though he was rehired less than a year later, the director decided to finish off the DC project before going back to the third Guardians movie.

Let us know what you think about the leaked set photos. Here are some of them:

Ryan Coogler’s Latest Production Venture Is A Whole New World of Superheroes

by Emily Keen

News is out that the famous comic series Bitter Root is getting the film treatment and Ryan Coogler has officially stepped in as the producer.

While the Creed director already has his hands full with Black Panther 2 and Space Jam 2, he has willingly accommodated another big project in his schedule. Legendary acquired the rights to the Image comic created by David F. Walker & Sanford Greene and got Ryan Coogler on board to produce the film adaptation alongside Zinzi Evans, Sev Ohanian and Chuck Brown.

The plot is set in the era of the Harlem Renaissance. It circles around a family whose members have down the line of history hunted evil monsters lurking in the city of New York. A supernatural force preys on the prejudice of people and turns them into ruthless creatures. But the period of glory has faded for the family. The Sangeryes are now survived by a few descendants who can’t hold the fort down. And that is mainly due to conflict of interests and tragedies that have shattered their family integrity.

Ryan-Coogler’s-Latest-Production-Venture-is-a-Whole-New-World-of-Superheroes

The comic started off as a casual talk about Harlem Renaissance and demon hunters between Chuck Brown and Sanford Greene. Sanford who shared good chemistry with David Walker got the latter aboard to do the designs. And the rest is history!

The fifth issue of the comic was released by Image last March. Bitter Root bagged the nomination of the Best New Series at the 2019 Eisner Awards. The series also created quite a buzz at the 2019 Ringo awards as the Best series Nominee. Both Walker and Greene are onboard the film crew as executive producers.

Coogler is currently working on his Black Panther 2 Script which will hit the screens somewhere in 2022. He rose to fame with his directorial prowess in Fruitvale Station and Creed before he became a part of Marvel Universe. Coogler and Wife Zinzi Evans have worked hand in glove on many projects. The couple is teaming up again for Bitter Root’s big-screen adaptation.

Time and again Coogler has proved his knack with successfully depicting Black legacies. And with Bitter Root being based on one of the most important events in Black History, we cannot think of anyone who can bring life to the comic better than he can.

Eli Roth’s Amazing Reaction When Asked About His Upcoming Project!

by Emily Keen

The word is out and official that Eli Roth will be producing the latest Orion slasher flick 10-31. The story crafted by Ian Shorr and Peter Gamble is set in the backdrop of Halloween. A young woman goes trick-or-treating with her niece and nephew and discovers about a serial killer being loose in her neighborhood. That’s just the synopsis we know about for now. But looking at the Hostel director’s excitement seems like the slasher flick has lots in store than just a gripping storyline.

There are currently no reports on who will be directing the horror flick. The same goes for the cast as well. The screen story written by Kathy Charles will be handled by a pretty impressive team of producers. Roth and Roger Birnbaum’s Arts District Entertainment will be producing the film alongside John Zaozirny’s Bellevue Productions.

Roth was quoted saying this about his upcoming project: “Very rarely do you get a script that grabs you by the throat, holds you until the last page, and gives you nightmares after. I don’t want to reveal too much, but this is one of the best, scariest premises for a horror film that I have read in years. Slasher films are my favorite subgenre of horror, and this script has all the ingredients of a new classic. We are very excited to make this film with Orion, who we have a long relationship with, and who understands what it takes to make a no holds barred scary movie.”

Executive producer Michael Besman too seemed quite excited. In a statement he said:

10-31 is exactly the type of movie that Eli and I have been looking to make for Arts District Entertainment: Smart, elevated genre for a wide audience. The writing has originality, style, elegance, and most of all, real tension and scares. We look forward to a great production with Orion.”

Eli Roth’s most recent works include Death Wish remake and The House With a Clock on it’s Walls as a director. He also produced the AMC series History of Horror and Haunt.

10-31 does not have a release date yet. Stay tuned to Spotflik for more updates on the movie.

[EXCLUSIVE] Here Is What Stephen Lang Thinks About The Don’t Breathe 2 Script.

by Kaylen Summers

The original Don’t Breathe was a sleeper hit when it got released in 2016. Starring Stephen Lang in the lead role, the movie told the story of a deadly blind man hunting a group of petty criminals who broke into his home.

Now, the makers of the movie are planning on a sequel and it seems like the actor is impressed with the script for it. Lang revealed in a recent event that he has seen the script for Don’t Breathe 2, and thinks that fans are going to love it.

“I’ve read the screenplay [for Don’t Breathe 2],” he said, “and it’s really good!” Though the actor did not confirm whether his co-star Jane Levy will return as Rocky.

Co-written by Alvarez and Rodo Sayagues, the original Don’t Breathe was helmed by Fede Alvarez (Evil Dead). The movie had Jane Levy, Dylan Minnette, and Daniel Zovatto star in the lead roles of three delinquents who make a living by breaking into homes to steal. However, things take a turn as they breaks into the house a harmless blind man, played by Stephen Lang. After trapping them in the house with complete darkness, Lang goes on hunting out and killing each of the criminals. The thieves are left with no choice but to escape the darkness and the blind man.

Surprisingly, the movie turned out to be a pretty big hit and gross over $157 million in ticket sales. That too under a production budget of less than $10 million. The movie went on to earn the Best Horror Film award at the Saturn Awards and Lang also won the Best Supporting Actor award at the Fangoria Chainsaw Awards.

Don’t Breathe did left room for a sequel and given the potential for success, a second installment is inevitable. Now that Lang is onboard, we won’t have to wait long for Don’t Breathe 2.

Online Uproar!! No One Wants A ‘Princess Bride’ Remake!

by Kaylen Summers

With Disney setting the trend for ‘reimagining’ (remaking) classic movies, we have been seeing more studios trying to catch up with them by remaking their old classics. Though it sounds good on paper, most critics and movie-lovers think that this move could degrade the audience’s viewing culture. Adding fuel to this fire, Sony Pictures’ CEO has recently hinted the possibility for remaking The Princess Bride. Last week, Sony Pictures boss Tony Vinciquerra mentioned in an interview: “Very famous people whose names I won’t use, but they want to redo The Princess Bride… Not a month goes by when we don’t have an idea coming from some very big name wanting to do things with Norman.”

Though there was no official confirmation about the remake, the comments became viral and suddenly every devoted fan on the internet weighed in on the situation. Actor Jamie Lee Curtis, the film’s original star Cary Elwes, and even the US senator Ted Cruz were few of the many who joined in on the fight between movie-lovers and studio-owners.

Few of the comments against the move are listed below:

It is incredible to realize that a tiny sentence in a small paragraph of a large profile could lead to such an outcry. However, we sincerely hope that the studio understands what their audience wants rather than what the board of directors want. After all, movies are for the audiences, right?!

Lion King Beats Avengers; Becomes 7th Biggest Movie of All Time

by Kaylen Summers

For all those people who are saying that Disney doesn’t know how to churn out a hit at the box office: Please step back!! Over the weekend, the studio has yet again made its dominance felt.

Disney’s The Lion King opened up to be one of the most grossing movies to come from the House of Mouse. The latest live-action addition is still continuing its reign at the box office, and recent reports are revealing that it is surpassing The Avengers to become the seventh highest-grossing movie of all time. Yes! Simba has beaten Earth’s mightiest heroes which is nothing shy of impressive, to say the very least of it.

Directed by Jon Favreau, Disney’s reimaging of its classic animated film features the voices of Donald Glover, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, Seth Rogen, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Billy Eichner, John Kani, John Oliver, Alfre Woodard, Florence Kasumba, Eric André, Shahadi Wright Joseph, Keegan-Michael Key, JD McCrary, and James Earl Jones.

With the Labor Day weekend behind us, The Lion King has now grossed in a total of more than $1.56 billion globally. The huge returns owe its share to the $523.5 million in domestic ticket sales and a stellar $1.04 billion from international markets. Previously, it was Marvel’s The Avengers who held the record position by nabbing around $1.51 billion when it was released in 2012.

The Lion King also managed to bump down Black Panther ($1.34 billion) from its position in the all-time top ten. If the movie continues to shine well at the box office, then there is a chance that it could overtake Jurassic World ($1.67 billion) from the sixth position. However, going any higher than that would be a tough task, as the fifth spot is safe in the hands of Avengers: Infinity War with a whopping $2.04 billion in the collection box. It is obvious that Simba’s roar wouldn’t have that much strength to reach there.

Apart from the numbers, this accomplishment shows how much the Mouse House defies expectations. Disney knows the winning formula to churn out content that audiences want to see. While every other studio struggled this summer, Disney dominated the box office again, giving hit after hit. This milestone is only one among the long list of achievements for Disney. The studio currently occupies six of the top 10 spots on the highest-grossing movie list and nine of the top 15 spots.

With already five movies released, they are also having a record-breaking year. Avengers: EndgameThe Lion KingCaptain MarvelToy Story 4 and Aladdin have all grossed at least $1 billion at the box office, making Disney the most money earned studio in a calendar year. But, they are not going to settle down with that. Big releases such as Maleficent: Mistress of EvilFrozen 2 and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker are already lined up and they are sure to have a great shot at taking in $10 billion or more before 2020. Now, it seems like Disney’s only competition at the box office is itself.

Why ‘Godzilla: King of Monsters’ did not fare well at the box office?

by Emily Keen

Forbes had a pretty empirical justification for why the Godzilla: King of monsters was not able to recreate the magic as Godzilla did. It was the five-year gap the makers took to release a sequel. The void created by the Godzilla Franchise was substantially filled in by two Jurassic Park movies, Rampage, The Meg, Pacific Rim: Uprising and Kong: Skull Island.

Another argument could be the unpopular cast line up of the sequel, which could not compete with the popular faces of Kong: Skull Island – Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson, Brie Larson, and John Goodman.

The monster movies genre squeezed in multiple scripts in a period in which Godzilla could have launched a sequel. It would not be wrong to assume that the audience by now was almost saturated for another tale of monster combat.

King of Monsters released at the end of May 2019. Considering the competition it faced from Aladdin, John Wick 3 and Detective Pikachu, it obviously stood a very little chance of reviving its old record of collections ($200,676,069 in the household market).  And of course, how can we forget the show stopper of the year – Avengers Endgame that brought down Avatar from the spot of number one grossing movie that it held for almost a decade.

Godzilla: King of Monsters’ domestic collection as of 18/08/19 stood at $110,381,893.

The theatrical run of the sequel is wrapping away and Blu-ray is set to release on August 27. The only hope that the franchise is now left with is Godzilla vs Kong releasing on 13 March 2020. Godzilla vs Kong will be directed by Adam Wingard and written by Terry Rossio. Adam Wingard has already tried his hands at thriller and supernatural flicks like The Guest and Death Note respectively.

Godzilla vs Kong will be his first dive into the monster verse. For him, the project definitely looks like a catch-22. But let’s not forget that King of Monsters was Michael Dougherty’s first attempt into the monster films league too. And if it wasn’t for the factors of the gap and a fatigued audience, it was no less than a jaw-dropper.
