Summer is still underway and the box office is crowded with tentpole movies like Hobbs & Shaw and The Lion King. Yet we couldn’t help ourselves from taking a peek at the holiday line-up. Yeah! We know it a little too early to get a full glimpse of the entire holiday slate. But, from what is announced so far, the holiday season this year is going to be really merry for all the cinephiles out there.
With that being said, here is the list for the must-watch movies releasing this holiday season.
Ho… Ho… Ho… (Sorry!)
A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood

1917
Not all movies for the holiday season will be merry-spirited. Some can be grim and bleak in theme. 1917 is one such movie. It tells the story of two young British soldiers, Schofield (George MacKay) and Blake (Dean-Charles Chapman). During World War I, they are given an impossible mission. They must cross enemy territory and deliver a message that will stop a deadly attack on hundreds of soldiers.
Releasing Date: 25 December 2019
Cats
Here is a musical to enjoy the holiday spirit. Cats (2019) is a British-American musical fantasy film based on the musical of the same name. The plot of the movie takes place over the course of a single night. A tribe of cats called the ‘Jellicles’ make what is known as ‘the Jellicle choice’. The choice will decide which cat will ascend to the Heaviside Layer and come back to a new life.
Releasing Date: December 20, 2019
Jumanji: The Next Level
Wait! Is it Jumanji 3 or Jumanji 2?! Let’s just call it Jumanji: The Next Level for now. A direct sequel to the 2017 movie, this installment of the franchise tells the story of four students playing a magical video game. The rules are pretty much the same as that of the prequel. They are drawn to the jungle world of Jumanji, where they are trapped as their avatars. To return to the real world, they must finish the game.
