Fans of the original Jurrasic Park trilogy have finally got a good reason to cheer for. Ever since the franchise was soft-rebooted into the Jurassic World trilogy, the movies did nothing much to serve its fans. However, things are surely taking a turn for the better as Universal Pictures is officially bringing back the original Jurassic Park trio- Laura Dern, Sam Neill, and Jeff Goldblum. The move will see the original trilogy linking up with the current sequel trilogy, starring Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard.
But this is not the first time that the franchise tried to establish such connections. In the franchise’s previous installment- Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Goldblum made a brief appearance as the smooth-talking chaotician Dr. Ian Malcolm. Neill and Dern haven’t been seen in these films since 2001’s Jurassic Park III, in which Neill’s Dr. Alan Grant took center stage and Dern’s Dr. Ellie Sattler appeared in a handful of scenes.
Recently, Dern expressed her excitement to return back to the franchise. It was during a fan screening of the newly released Jurassic World short film: Battle at Big Rock that the actress announced her return to the franchise. Dern, Neill, and Goldblum were first seen together in Jurassic Park in 1993. The movie spawned a worldwide franchise over the past 25 years the trio was never seen together in their original roles. With the upcoming installment, it will be fun to watch the new crew and the old crew working together to fight the huge creatures.
Director Colin Trevorrow will be returning to helm threequel, after sitting down the second one. He will also be penning the screenplay with Emily Carmichael (Pacific Rim Uprising, The Black Hole). Steven Spielberg and Trevorrow will also be returning as executive producer of the new film.
Picking up where the last film left off, Jurassic World 3 will see the dinosaurs living among humans. The Battle at Big Rock short gives us a glimpse of the world where dinosaurs are now living in our world. Though it featured a light-hearted approach, the movie will be taking a much serious look at the dire world-threatening situation. It is obvious that Owen Grady (Chris Pratt) and Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard) won’t be able to save the world by themselves. So, it makes sense why they would eventually turn to the original Jurassic Park dino crisis team for support.
Jurassic World 3 is expected to hit theaters on June 11, 2021.
