Arthur Fleck’s contagious laugh does not seem to be dying any sooner. Joaquin Phoenix’s magnum Opus now stands strong with a global collection of $849 million. The DC movie has toppled Angelina Jolie’s fantasy fiction once again to reclaim it’s top spot this weekend.
According to ‘Deadline’ the Todd Phillip’s Joker rolled in a $18.9 million where as the Disney film brought in $18.5 million. The numbers are close but the fact that Joker has been it its fifth week of release speaks for itself. In the last week, Maleficient 2 brought down the highly acclaimed Phoenix starrer with the collection of $36.9 million. Joker in that weekend stood at $29 Million.
Maleficient: Mistress of Evil’s global earnings as of now are $293.5 million.
This weekend was rather peaceful with studios slowing down releases for the onset of Halloween. In the third place, stood Addams Family with $11.7 million edging out Zombieland: Double Tap which brought in $11.6 million.
Joker’s list of accolades could already bind a compendium and it has them coming. The movie has now officially surpassed Deadpool’s record as the highest grossing R-rated movie. The Ryan Reynold’s film stood at $782.6 million.
Terminator: Dark Fate debuted in cinemas this weekend and made $12.8 million. The numbers might have been a tad disappointing given the hype around the Linda Hamilton starrer. But the movie might soon catch up as there are Holidays coming up in the keys markets of release.
As for Joker, it is still running strong in Europe. This weekend added $47.8 million to Jokers collections from 79 overseas markets. The film is now looking forward to a $950 million worldwide collection.
The film is also the highest grossing WB movie in 14 international markets including Russia, Argentina and Mexico and the biggest DC movie in 34 markets which includes, Holland, Italy, Spain, Russia, India, Argentina and Mexico.
Moreover it has stood at the #1 spot for a 4th weekend in a row in Europe. In Asia, Joker is now the 4th best WB title and the 2nd best of WB movie of all times in Latin America.
