The Shawshank Redemption
With a strong cult following, there are many reasons to watch this movie even today. The movie set in the 1940s where an upstanding banker named Andy is sent to the Shawshank prison after being sentenced for the double murder of his wife and her lover. Though it was tough for him at first, Andy’s accounting skills put him in a good position with the amoral warden. His integrity and unquenchable sense of hope helped him to be admired by the other inmates and become life-long friends with an older prisoner named Red. If you are a fan of this classic masterpiece, it is always good to rewatch it once again.
The Dark Knight
Fan of comic movies? Even if you are not, you will still be familiar with Nolan’s take of the caped crusader. The Dark Knight is the second installment of the Batman trilogy from the director. As the masked vigilante is continuing his fight against crime in Gotham, Lt. Jim Gordon and District Attorney Harvey Dent joins his fight to dismantle the remaining criminal organizations. However, their effective methods are no match for the reign of chaos unleashed by a rising criminal mastermind known as the Joker. With a truly immortal performance from Heath Leadger, this is truly the best movie of the three and worth streaming.
Inception
We know how Nolan movies can be when it comes to messing up the linear structure of narratives. Apparently, this comes to a peak remarkable movie, Inception. Nolan loves to play with genres and rebuilding them into a new status. With that in mind, many movie-buffs believe that this movie is his version of a heist movie. Instead of money, here the valuable asset is ideas, and instead of robbing them, here, they are planting it. Yeah, Nolan’s concepts are always a little mind-boggling., but that doesn’t mean that his movies are not exciting and entertaining.
The Silence of the Lambs
There is no doubt that Dr. Hannibal Lecter is a brilliant psychiatrist. But, he is also a deadly psychopath. For the past years, he has been sentenced to serve his time in prison for the various murders he has committed and also cannibalism. When Jack Crawford asked Clarice Starling to interview him, he believed that the young attractive woman who is the top student at FBI’s training academy can draw Lecter out into revealing some insights about a case.
The Godfather
The Godfather movies are more of an epic chronicle than a trilogy. The movie spans from 1945 to 1955 and tells the tale of the fictional Italian-American Corleone crime family. Vito Corleone is the patriarch of the organized crime family. When he is attacked, he barely escapes with his life. This drives his youngest son, Michael to take care of the people who are looking to kill his father. This launches bloody campaign revenge. If you are a fan of the gangster movies, then this one should be on the top of your list.
Schindler’s List
Based on the true story, Schindler’s List is about a businessman’s efforts to save the lives of many Jews during the time of World War II. Oskar Schindler saved more than a thousand lives from the Nazis. The Jews were working as slaves in his factory.
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
The Lord of the Rings undoubtfully has a fanbase of its own. The story is about Frodo Baggins who is a young hobbit. He finds a mysterious ring from his uncle Bilbo. The ring belongs to the Dark Lord Sauron and in order to prevent it from falling into his hands again, Frodo must make his way to Mount Doom with eight companions. It is only there that the ring can be destroyed.
Pulp Fiction
Tarantino’s movies are known for its engaging conversations, vibrant characters, and most importantly the bloody violence. Pulp Fiction is nothing different. Here is a classic Tarantino movie juggling multiple characters. The crime comedy movie talks a series of incidents intertwining the lives of a burger-loving mobster, his philosophical partner, a gangster’s wife, a boxer, and two small-time criminals.
