Tarantino movies are filled with hidden details- both on-screen and something even off-screen. This deep attention to detail in his movies is one of the reasons why we love his work so much. As much engaging as his narratives are, the trivia facts about his movies are also entertaining AF! So here are 10 of the most surprising trivia from Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction.
Michael Madsen As Vincent Vega
When Quentin Tarantino was writing the movie, he had Michael Madsen in mind for the role of Vincent Vega. Even though Madsen knew of Quentin’s plans and had a great desire to play the part, Madsen was already signed up for the role of Virgil Earp in Wyatt Earp (1994). He later confessed that he regretted the decision.
Fake Bible Verse
The passage from the Bible that Jules recites was mostly made up by Quentin Tarantino and Samuel L. Jackson. The first part about the righteous man and the tyranny of evil men is not real. However the second half, “And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger. And you will know My name is the Lord when I lay My vengeance upon thee”, is a direct quote from Ezekiel 25:17.
The Bonnie Situation
“The Bonnie Situation” is one of the main chapters in the movie. However, according to the script, it was originally supposed to be titled “Jules, Vincent, Jimmie, and The Wolf”. Glad that they changed it. Because nothing will come close to the new name.
Comeback Film
Although Pulp Fiction is regarded as John Travolta’s second comeback film, it became one for Bruce Willis. The actor was having trouble with films outside of the Die Hard franchise. His supporting roles in this film and Nobody’s Fool (1994) helped him maintain his A-list status.
Board Games
Board games also play an important role in the movie. Tarantino is fond of vintage board games and they can be seen in a lot of scenes. “The Game of Life” and “Operation” can both be seen on a table while Vincent and Lance are administering the adrenaline shot. In the bedroom, while Lance and his wife are yelling at each other, you can see a game called “Chauvinist Pigs”.
Pulp Fiction Matches
Before the movie’s UK video rental release, some video stores gave away a pack of limited edition Pulp Fiction matches. The packet had a quote from the film, saying: “You play with matches, you get burned”.
