Yes, you read that right! We think evil does not wait for the night.

While most horror movies typically take place during the ungodly hours, there are some that don’t, and yet can scare the daylights out of you (pun intended).

We curated this list of 10 horror movies that don’t need a 3:00 A.M setting to scare you silly.

The Birds (1963)

This American horror-thriller film was produced and directed by Alfred Hitchcock. There are no creepy monsters or ghosts in this movie, but it is scary nonetheless. In a bizarre turn of events, birds start to violently attack people living in a town in California.

The Wicker Man (1973)

In a horror movie, the audience always knows that it is a bad idea to go looking for a missing person. Unfortunately, Sergeant Howie doesn’t know that! He travels to a remote Scottish island village to investigate the report of a young girl who mysteriously disappears.

Who Can Kill a Child? (1976)

This movie was also released under the name “Island of the Damned”. It is a Spanish horror film directed by Narciso Ibáñez Serrador. A couple arrives on a small Spanish island inhabited by maniacal children. You can imagine the rest!

Dawn Of The Dead (1978, 2004)

Both the original and the remake are worth your time. This is a classic Zombie movie, and we doubt anyone needs more explanation.

The Reflecting Skin (1990)

This is a British-Canadian dramatic horror film, set in the 1950s, in a small town in Idaho. A young boy is convinced that a neighboring widow is a vampire when his friends start disappearing.

Session 9 (2001)

An abandoned mental asylum (with a horrific past), which had been closed for 15 years, receives new visitors. Even the locals steer clear of the place. This one has all the elements needed for a horror movie. Needless to say, tensions rise quickly within the asbestos cleaning crew as they start working in the abandoned hospital.

28 Days Later (2002)

A group of animal rights activists frees a caged chimp from a medical lab, only to learn, a little too late, that it’s infected with a virus. The virus spreads fast, wreaking havoc in the United Kingdom, leading those who are infected to turn into rabid zombies. A team of survivors try to cope with the aftermath of the disaster and find safety. This one might make you feel uncomfortable in the present times!

It (2017)

This is a supernatural horror film based on Stephen King’s 1986 novel of the same name. Seven children face their worst nightmare when an ancient, shape-shifting evil clown reappears in their town. The bloodthirsty clown is said to emerge every 27 years to feed on the town’s children.

A Quiet Place (2018)

If a place occupied by children has pin-drop silence, either the kids are sleeping, or something is wrong! In this film, a family with young kids must live in silence to avoid getting killed by extraterrestrial creatures that hunt by sound. Even the slightest whisper or footstep can bring death.

Midsommar (2019)

This follows four American tourists who go on a trip to a remote community in Sweden to immerse themselves in a festival during the summer solstice. Their idyllic retreat turns into a sinister, dreadful nightmare. Various sources have compared this movie with “The Wicker Man” which is also on our list. Both movies fall under the sub-genre of folk horror.
