However, Time After Time takes the genre tropes to a whole new level. Normally, in time travel movies, it is normal to see some cameos from famous historical figures. This movie brings these characters to the center of the stage. The infamous science fiction writer HG Wells plays the main character who travels in time to capture Jack the Ripper. However, the mission takes a different track when he falls in love with a woman. Now, Wells must protect his love while fighting against the ripper.
Never Let Me Go
Despite being the most recent British-American film to make this list, you might not expect this novel-inspired film to be here. Although there are numerous sci-fi elements in the movie, it has very little romance to make it eligible for this list. Womb
Womb does not fit into your definitions of romantic science fiction for many reasons. It is undoubtedly different from every other movie on the list and the romance in it is definitely what you are used to. It’s strange! The main heroine is played by none other than Eva Green. She clones her dead lover and from there, things start to get a lot complicated. The film probably is the least known movie on the list. However, it is worth watching.
The One I Love
The One I Love may look like an ordinary, traditional romantic drama. However, it is more than what you see at the first sight. In order to save their marriage, Ethan and Sophie decide to go on vacation together. What starts off as a romantic and fun escape from their troubling marriage, turns out to be something surreal and unexpected. With doppelgangers and mistaken identities, this sci-fi movie will surely give you the creeps too.
Seeking a Friend For the End of the World
Apocalypse movies are always fun to watch. Add romance to the mixture and you will surely get an unforgettable combo.
